STANDARD SPECIFICATION FOR STEEL LINEN CHUTE TO BS 1703

General

Supply and installation of a Linen Chute System as specified, to meet the requirements of BS 1703: 1977

Supply

A  450/500/600/800mm** internal or external diameter Linen chute system as manufactured by True-Crete Ltd. and as detailed on drawing No..............

Chute Construction

The chute shall be factory assembled and all joints shall be welded where required, except those required to separate for shipment or installation. Each section shall fit inside the section below with no projections inside the chute, to impede the free flow of falling Linen. Hopper frames and doors shall be bolted in place on every entry section. A minimum of one telescopic joint per floor shall be allowed to give working tolerance.

True-Crete Ltd shall provide sealant to ensure all joints are watertight.

Chute Material

Chute trunking sections shall be manufactured from 1.5 mm Stainless Steel 304 grade type 304 S15 to BS 1449: Part 2 : 1983. or as specified.

Hoppers

True-Crete Ltd shall provide ........number of ANTI-VANDAL hoppers. True-Crete type Side Hung Hoppers

Doors shall be manufactured from stainless steel double skinned with a special 4 hour fire rated core to BS 476 part 4 BS 476 part 7.

Door chute shall be manufactured in stainless steel. Doors shall pivot on ANTI-VANDAL hinges and shall be self closing, against SMOKE RESISTANT seal.

Frames shall be manufactured from 6mm angle iron, hot dipped galvanised after manufacture.

Floor Support Frames

True-Crete Ltd shall provide ......number of floor support frames.

Frames manufactured from 50 x 50 x 6mm RSA. Frames to be hot dipped galvanised after manufacture.

Chute Extension / Discharge Cut-Off Shutter

True-Crete Ltd shall provide extension type Offset to be connected to the underside of the bin room.The extension shall be manufactured from 1.5mm stainless steel.

True-Crete Ltd shall provide an automatic fire cut off shutter fabricated from heavy gauge stainless steel.

The Automatic fire cut-off shutter is capable of closing off the chute from the refuse room.

The Automatic fire cut-off shutter is operated by gravity and has a 72 Degree fusible link and shall be fitted to the chute extension / discharge section

Sound Damping

The exterior surfaces of the refuse chute shall have a factory applied coating of Revac sound damping compound

Ventilation

True-Crete Ltd shall provide stainless steel ventilation trunking, from the top of the vent pipe spigot entry section on the ........... floor to terminate 1.2m above roof level fitted with storm collar flashing terminal.
